Welcome to the mTropolis v1.1 product sampler! This document provides late-breaking information about this release, supplementing the information contained in the mTropolis Developer Guide and mTropolis Reference Guide. For additional release notes, please see the mFactory website at http://www.mfactory.com.

  8. While we have put a lot of energy into making this release as bug-free as possible, some bugs inevitably sneak by. If you happen to find one, please let us know so we can fix it for you! Anyone can send bug reports by email to:

  15. Tips/Omissions
  16. The following information does not appear in the mTropolis v1.1 documentation:

  18. BUILD FOR SPACE
  19. • The "Build for Space" option in the Build Title dialog has been removed from this version of mTropolis. Note, however, that you can control asset duplication in each asset's info dialog using the "Limit to one copy per segment" checkbox.

  21. QUICKTIME VR ON WINDOWS
  22. • mFactory is using an early release of Apple's QuickTime VR technology in the mTropolis player for Windows, which may exhibit some problems. For now, use QuickTime VR with caution on Windows platforms, especially on Windows 3.1. When an official QTVR SDK for Windows is released, mFactory will update its Windows players and make them available from the mFactory website.

  24. FILE SHARING
  25. • For best performance, turn off File Sharing before running a mTropolis project or title. Animations will play more smoothly if File Sharing is off.

  27. CUSTOM PALETTES ON WINDOWS
  28. • For performance reasons, avoid using custom palettes that contain duplicate entries when building titles for Windows platforms.

  30. COPYING MESSENGERS
  31. • Copying a messenger from one project to another may cause the messenger to lose its "destination" if it is targeting a component by absolute reference (even if the destination component is copied before or at the same time as the messenger it is targeted by). Open the copied messenger's configuration dialog and manually reset the Destination pop-up to work around this problem.

  35. For a complete list of differences between mTropolis players on Macintosh and Windows platforms, refer to the release notes provided with the mTropolis Player for Windows, on the Windows partition of the mTropolis Sampler CD-ROM.
